How to Install/Download Window SP1:
- Click Start> All Programs > Windows Update .
- In the left pane, select Check for Updates.
- If you find all the important updates, select the link to view the available updates. In the list of updates, select Update for Microsoft Windows (Service Pack) (KB976932) and then click OK…
- Select Install Updates. you may be asked to enter an administrator password or to confirm your choice.
- Follow the instructions to install SP1.
- After you install SP1, log on to the computer. You may be notified if the update was successful. If you disabled your antivirus software before installation, be sure to turn it back on.
Download and install Windows SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
If you are unable to install SP1 from Windows Update, you can download the installation package from the Microsoft Download Center and then install SP1 manually.
- Go to the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 download page on the Microsoft website.
- Select Installation Instructions to see which packages are available for download and to note which package you need.
- In the drop-down list, select the appropriate language, and then select Download.
- Select the packages to install, select Next, and follow the instructions to install SP1. The computer may restart several times during the installation.
- After you install SP1, log on to the computer. You may be notified if the update was successful. If you disabled your antivirus software before installation, be sure to turn it back on.
Troubleshoot problems with installing Windows SP1
- If you receive an error message when you try to install SP1 that the installation was not successful, it may be because of a problem with the Windows Servicing Store that is used to install updates, or because antivirus software is preventing you from installing the update.
To try to find and fix the problem, follow these steps to try to install SP1 again.
Download and run the System Update Readiness Tool
- Select the link in the table that corresponds to the version of Windows running on your computer.

- On the Microsoft Download Center page, select a language, and then select Download. It may take a few minutes to download and install the tool.
- If you want to install the tool now, select Open or Run and follow the instructions. If you want to use the tool later, select Save and download the installation files to your computer.
- On the Windows Update Standalone Installer screen, select Yes or OK.
- On the Installation Complete screen, select Close.
- Try to install the service pack again.

If your computer can’t find or install updates, the Windows Update Troubleshooter can help you resolve the issue.
- Select the Start button and then Control Panel.
- Enter a troubleshooter in the search box and select Troubleshoot from the list of results.
- Under System and Security, select Repair Windows Update issues and follow the instructions.
- After the troubleshooting is complete, try to install the service pack again.
Note: If SP1 is not listed, you may need to install some other updates before you can install it. Install all critical updates, and then follow these steps to search for SP1 again. Thank you!
